How to Choose the Right Bedroom Curtains

Bedroom curtains don’t just create a private haven they also add personal style. Whether you’re looking for canopy bed curtains or bedroom window curtains, there will be a look that’s perfect for you. Canopy Bed Curtains
Even a modest bed can be a focal point when draped with canopy curtains. There are a couple of types of canopy bed drapes to consider:
Coronas – In this canopy type, fabric is hung above the bed by a crown (hence, corona), typically of wood, and then left to trail down either side of the bed. Some have holdbacks on either side of the headboard
Drapery backdrop – Hang curtains on the wall behind the bed, either from beneath a valance or from a rod, for instant elegance. This is also a good way to insulate against fluctuating temperatures in older homes, and to dampen sound.
Four-poster drapes – When you say canopy, most people think of curtains suspended from the top rails of a four-poster bed. While this is traditionally used in girls’ rooms, when grown-up furniture and fabrics are used, nothing is more romantic.
Bedroom Window Curtains
Curtains come in a variety of styles, typically categorized by their headers (the way the top of the drape is finished). Basic header types include:

·         Pinch pleats
·         Tab tops
·         Grommet tops
·         Swags
Bedroom curtains are often formal or feminine, and so they often include toppers like swags, valances or window scarves.
The curtain panels can hang straight to the floor, puddle on the floor, be swept back by ties or displayed in a variety of classic drapes, like bishop’s sleeves or jabots.

In a bedroom, fabrics can veer toward the outright romantic and elegant, or toward lighter, trendier patterns. But this is a room that most people go traditional in, where plaids, stripes and florals dominate. Though geometric prints have taken center stage in the last five years, from chevrons to Greek keys. Geometrics help balance the design evenly between masculine and feminine.
Because bedrooms are typically low-traffic rooms, it’s possible to use fabrics here that you might not use other places, like silk or velvet. Lined curtains are a necessity if you want to limit the light coming in for better sleep. Blackout curtains are also a natural choice, blocking light as well as some sound, and creating a quiet sanctuary.
